A large question may be: Why a new building? For FBCC the answer has many layers: First and foremost for everyone involved in this process; is the spreading of the Gospel as stated in our mission statement, and our current building makes that difficult for many reasons, not the least of which is safety. Unfortunately, despite the fact that we do love our old building the fact of the matter is, our building is old, and we need to keep the safety of those who attend our facility at the forefront of our minds. Before we even went through the process of looking into a new building we prayed, and prayed heavily for the Lord's guidance and His will.
This building is for the growth of His church within this community. This building is for the safety of our church members. It has never, ever been the intention of anyone to make a building for "us". It has been and always will be, dedicated to the Lord and His work. We want the people who enter the doors of our facility to be comfortable, and that is difficult as our facility currently stands. Next we have the dreaded stairs. Many have difficulty with our stairs, many don't want to sit in the basement for our service, and others have difficulty with our handicap ramp. These considerations were also integral in our decisions for going forward with a new building. We do not want anyone to feel separate or unable to participate fully in the service, and so we have done everything we can to create a building that meets all of our needs.
The key word is needs. There are many things we want in a building, but we focused on needs, and packed those needs into a design that will serve that purpose. We created classrooms for all of our age groups. No longer will there be a separate buildings for Sunday School and Bible Study.
We created a fellowship hall that will serve all of our events not just adequately, but comfortably. No longer will there be concerns of safety due to being packed together to tightly as we enjoy our fellowship together, now we will have the ability to move freely, safely and comfortably during all events.
To go along with our fellowship hall, we made sure the kitchen would serve all functions, whether it be potlucks, fellowship time, AWANA Dinners, or Memorial Services, we took every need into consideration in the creation of the kitchen, as well as the needs of the people who most frequently help the Church by volunteering there.
We will have a nursery that will be wired so that the sermon will be heard and seen by those dear souls who volunteer each Sunday to work with our youngest attendees.
